I’m bathing in the sun at the plaza in front of Munich airport’s terminal 1. If you close your eyes, you can hear a magnificent crescendo of disparate sounds: the noise of planes taking off blending with the loud beats of construction work that reverberate through the tent-covered open-air shopping mall, hundreds of voices in conversations, some of them singing songs, the humming of birds, and an indistinguishable dizzying ground noise that eclipses it all. These sounds are accentuated by the mixed smells of fragrance and kerosene. The bustling productivity is so constant and calm that it is in fact a meditation. The skies are friendly today.
I call that simple living with true value.
