Big risks are forcing us to think small: In light of the latest thwarted terrorist plot, I believe the time has come for microjets to finally conquer the skies. Instead of taking large commercial jets to hub airports, they allow for traveling point-to-point to smaller airports. The Gridskipper Blog writes: “Right now the choices for people when they consider air travel is either to take the bus or a really really expensive limosine. Busses are the big jets, the Boeing 767 and Airbusses of the World. The limo is a corporate jet. VLR’s (very light jets) represent an interesting midpoint. Think of them as a nice taxi.” Among the first microjet airlines is Dayjet. Japanese carmaker Honda has also just joined the market, partnering with Piper Aircraft, to form HondaJet.
