HKIA, Hong Kong International Airport, located on the Chek Lap Kok island in the Kowloon Bay and designed by Sir Norman Foster, is easily the best airport in the world. That's not just my opinion: For the seventh time in 10 years, it has been named World's Best Airport 2008 in the World Airport Awards. The terminals are like long stairways to heaven, with enough natural light to make you wear sun glasses. There is a Muji store, and 747s left and right, staring at you with stoic calm as you shop or daydream. If your idea of happiness is like mine (watching planes and people while sporadically browsing through Monocle or the New Yorker), make sure your next lay-over in Asia is here and at least a day long.
